Crazy Crayola

Is it just me or has Crayola been going really crazy with all the chalk toys lately? What happened to getting a simple 8-pack of chalk sticks? When I was a kid...waaaay back in my day...we just played with regular old chalk. We were lucky if we got colored chalk. That was a special occasion, kwim?

Now this is the kind of stuff I'm seeing:

The Crayola Chalk N' Roll: Why Use Your Hands to Draw with Chalk when You Can Use an Alien-Robot-Looking-Thing Instead?

Speaking of aliens, didn't I see this land on Jupiter a few years back? Oh, nope, sorry, this is the Crayola Color Cyclone. My bad.

Ready, aim, fire! Crayola's first semi-automatic paint gun. For when you want to be a bad-ass sidewalk colorer.

Yeah, Crayola, you're coming up with some pretty cool shite. I can't wait to see what my driveway's going to look like this time next year.

The city of Houston spends millions on cleaning up graffiti each year. Leave it to Crayola to give kids an easy opportunity to make them spend more.

oh. But now I want one of those. And I am almost 35. With no kids. I might invite a girlfriend and her children over. So I can play with the kids toys!

Nice to "see" you!

I bought the Chalk & Roll and the Cyclone thing on clearance at Target and they BOTH sucked majorly!

Good to know, Izzy! Thanks for saving me 40 bucks! These things may look crazy to me, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't have bought them (and, uh, even played with them).

The first two look way too complicated but I'm allover the sidewalk color. I'm tired of scratching up my knees while drawing hop scotch on the driveway.

That chalk sprayer is like a felony waiting to happen! Or at least a misdemeanor....

Guess there's not enough profit in chalk, so they have to sell chalk accessories.

It's not just you. My son is a chalk-a-holic. It's all over the sidewalk, driveway, garage door, front door, ugh!

and they keep making more chalk junk and toys!

These things break so easily! The kids love 'em for two seconds, and then end up having to play with "regular" chalk after all.

I remember what our cul-de-sac looked like when those chalk toys first (10 years ago) came out . . .

Glad to see you again! :)

We've had that sidewalk paint before. It doesn 't wash off very easily! I could just see my son getting his hands on that paint gun and shooting his sisters...yeah...no thank you *LOL*

Wow. Um, yeah, we won't be buying that, thankyouverymuch. I do appreciate the heads up. If my kids had told me about this without me reading it here first I would have been like, what the hell?

I am so glad you are posting again! Yippee.

I'm thinking Crayola should stick with the simple wax writing implements that got them where they are today... just sayin'. ;-)

Yeah, they are trying pretty hard to sell new stuff. It kinda looks like fun, though.

For being a caring mom who looks into your kids well being, you sure do use some vulgar language. Be careful, whether or not you know it, that stuff rubs off on your children even if you think you are careful about saying it infront of them.

It also discredits a lot of what you are saying, in my opinion.

Hi Suzi,

Thank you for leaving a totally judgemental comment on my blog without contact information to respond back to you. That's cool.
